We believe that farmers are key agents of change in transforming our food systems from extractive to regenerative. In order to establish sustainable markets for food grown using regenerative practices, such practices must be financially sustainable for producers, and the resulting goods must be affordable for consumers. Farm to Crag is honing in on this two-sided challenge with our CSA Support Pilot Program (the βProgramβ).
This spring, we are providing 100 low-income households with a subsidy on a local CSA seasonal share, paid directly to our regenerative partner farms. The Program reduces financial strain and the trade-offs that low-income households often make between healthy food and other essential needs. For farmers, the Program reduces their financial risk and provides a steady revenue stream that helps cover the costs of seeds, labor, and equipment, as well as innovative and experimental regenerative practices. This pilot season was made possible with donations from Patagonia, La Sportiva, Spire Climbing, and folks like you.
Your support could transform the lives of our program participants, whose stories of gratitude have flooded our inbox, while helping our partner farms protect the environment and contribute to the health and well-being of our planet. We hope you will join us as a key partner in scaling the program in 2026.
CSA Support Pilot Program
PILOT PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
The Farm To Crag CSA Support Program bridges the gap between local food systems and all those experiencing food inequity in outdoor-centric regions by reducing financial barriers to fresh, organic produce. Your support creates a lasting impact by making sustainable food accessible, by directly supporting regenerative farms and local economies, and building healthier communities.
πποΈπ± The program has 5 targeted outcomes:
Invest in Regenerative Food Systems: Provide direct support to sustainable farmers that protect the environment, reduce food miles, and contribute to the health and well-being of our planet.
Support Regenerative Farmers: Support farmers that adhere to our Regenerative Agriculture Core Principles.
Reallocate Subsidies: Create a CSA subsidy program that demonstrates effective resource allocation to regenerative farms that support environmentally friendly practices and promote biodiversity.
Empower Consumers: Provide accessible, affordable, and nutritious food options to individuals and families.
Build Community: Create strong, direct relationships between farmers and consumers, fostering a sense of shared responsibility and collaboration in building a sustainable food future.
