First Yosemite Gathering
A recap from October 19-20, 2019
Taking climbers farming and farmers climbing
In partnership with the generous folks at Patagonia and Patagonia Provisions, Farm To Crag brought together surrounding farmers and climbers in our first-ever Community Gathering outside of iconic Yosemite National Park! We attracted advocates from all sides who wanted to learn more about regenerative agriculture; nutrition and fermentation; community supported farming; making change with your fork, your wallet, and your voice; and how soil health has the potential to reverse human-led climate change.
We spent a day getting dirty on the farm — sharing stories, ideas, muscle power, and beautiful farm fresh food — then we headed into the Valley and climbed alongside one another: taking climbers farming and farmers climbing!
This first Community Gathering was an incredible weekend of inspiring minds collaborating around local regenerative organic farming, how that can sequester carbon, how that tastes: delicious; how it can be preserved in a more nourishing, bio-available and tasty way; and how hard our farmers work to cultivate and to know their lands intimately, just like we climbers know our rock! It was decadent, centering, fun, rewarding, and left us at Farm To Crag beyond grateful for the chance to collaborate and celebrate with the rich community of farmers, climbers, Patagonia, and Patagonia Provisions!
We are part of a revolution to place an appropriately high value on the work of organic farmers like Lauren and Andrew of Raw Roots Farm. One of the highlights of the weekend was seeing everyone feasting together, on locally-grown bounty, in the golden light under the oak tree on their bad ass farm (see a selection of images below).
Postcard reflections will continue to remind us all that: as we grow this revolution from the ground up, we are not in this alone!!
